Allison Russell Berkeley Concert reviews
An outsiders viewpoint
I saw the show last night and was very impressed with what I saw, even the songs during the new album kept most in their seats rather in streaking for the bathroom or concession stands. Allison Russell clearly has a devoted following for good reason as she puts her heart and soul into her show. The fire, lights, rising stages, fireworks, etc. all worked real well with Allison Russell. I don't know much about the two newer members of the band but I thought they performed excellent, especialy the AF replacement on guitar. Gene is still a master of playing up to the fans. I've not ever been what you'd call a Allison Russell fan but Paul still sounded good singing. What is up with the continued screeching to the audience between songs? Talk to us man! Everytime you had the mic between songs I wanted to leave. It's no small feat at an assigned seating show to have most in attendance enthusiastically stand the entire time. My only criticism of the show.
